This image above is a few of the ideas that I came up with for what the Sacred Heart means to me.

The following is the explanation that I would give… (sorry if it isn’t really connected together very well)

One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. –John 19:34

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. –Matthew 11:28-30

Find rest in the wounds of Christ, in His Heart? “In your wounds, shelter me.”

Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. In your wounds, shelter me. –Anima Christi Prayer

As Good Shepherd, he leads us to the places of rest and at the same time He is the green pasture and the still water, He restores our souls.

This is a great quote from St Bonaventure about the Sacred Heart and finding rest in Him. It was opened on the cross so that we can go inside! Let us keep going deeper and deeper into Him!

Arise, then, beloved of Christ! Imitate the dove that nests in a hole in the cliff, keeping watch at the entrance like the sparrow that finds a home. There like the turtledove hide your little ones, the fruit of your chaste love. Press your lips to the fountain, draw water from the wells of your Savior…

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. –Psalm 23
